Entry-Level Project Engineer

CASS Sheet Metal – Detroit, MI  |  Full-Time | On-Site

CASS Sheet Metal is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Project Engineer to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career professional interested in construction, architectural metals, and building envelope systems.

As a Project Engineer at CASS, you will support the planning, coordination, and execution of architectural sheet metal projects including roofing, wall panels, composite panel systems, and custom exterior facade applications on commercial and industrial buildings throughout the region.

You’ll work closely with experienced project managers, field crews, fabricators, architects, general contractors, and suppliers while developing hands-on experience in a specialized and growing segment of the construction industry.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Managers with day-to-day project coordination.
  • Review architectural drawings, specifications, and submittals.
  • Prepare RFIs, submittals, shop drawing logs, and change orders.
  • Coordinate material procurement, fabrication schedules, and deliveries.
  • Communicate with architects, general contractors, vendors, and field personnel.
  • Help track project schedules, budgets, and documentation.
  • Attend project meetings and support field operations as needed.
  • Assist with quality control and project closeout documentation.

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Experience with Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Revit, or construction software is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
  • Self-motivated with problem-solving abilities and a team-first attitude.
